This will surely make your readers a little bit happy because you are notifying them in a decent way, that due to some reasons we had to disable comments on this post and, that their future comments and suggestions are always welcome! This little way of communicating with your readers will surely go a long way, and they will always feel to keep coming back.

Now lets get down on how to show comments are closed box below posts in wordpress:

Step 1: Open the wordpress dashboard and go to Appearance > Editor. Now open the comments.php file.

Step 2: Scroll down below at the end of the page and paste this if statement just before the last php endif:

<p id="commentsclosed">Comments closed for this thread. If you think you have got something important to share with us, please use the <a href="" rel="nofollow">Contact Me</a> page!</p>

The placement of this code will differ if you are using a different theme, just make sure you are pasting it after all the comment box form code and respond divs. If you are having trouble about where to paste it, please let us know in the comments and we will assist you.

Step 3: As you can see i am using a paragraph tag with an id “commentsclosed”. If you want to style this box then you can use the this id and style it however you want and paste the css code in your stylesheet.

Step 4: Finally make sure it is working correctly by disabling comments on a post. Here is how you can turn off comments on a wordpress post:

Open the post editor, scroll down below until you see a Discussion box. Uncheck the box where it says “Allow Comments”. Thats it!

Now to see the changes, click on View Post. If you have done everything correctly, you will now be able to see the Comments are closed box just below the last comment on that post.
